This game is interesting. The meat of it is in GHTV but the story mode is GH Live. Now if you were to take GH Live on it's own, ignoring the new control scheme and just looking at the songs this would be by far the worst guitar game setlist. Except
Band Hero and
LEGO Rock Band I guess. But there's GHTV. The concept, if you don't know is that there's a massive amount of songs but you don't really have full access to them. You can either play them as they come on one of two channels that are constantly streaming, or you can use "plays" to pick any of the GHTV songs that you want. Of course, you can buy "plays" with real money. You earn them extremely occasionally throughout playing GHTV. Now, I said "massive" but it's really not that many, it's literally the same thing every single day, and most of the ones that are there are pretty shit. Not much more to say about that.
Still, the game is fun. I find it hard to stop playing, and I think it's entirely due to the new controller. If this exact setlist was on a regular Guitar Hero game I would hate that game. It's a new challenge, and it's a lot of fun.
The only other thing to really talk about is the aesthetic and I don't have that much to say about it. It's awful. It's really bad. In GHTV you just watch the music video, and that's really not a bad choice at all I guess, it just seems a bit lazy. I do enjoy it. But in GH Live you have a fake band fake playing the song in front of a bunch of extras who have to overact. Either they FUCKING LOVE YOU or they want you to die. Ugh, and the band plays to the camera and the whole thing is just super cringeworthy. That is, when it works. Most of the time it's choppier than the Drake Passage.
I don't even know how I feel about this game but I want to keep playing it so ยฏ\_(ใ)_/ยฏ
