I love the depiction of Zatoichi in this one, he's not the perfect do-no-wrong hero, his motivations are clear and he still has to earn a buck at the end of the day. Lone Wolf and Cub: Baby Cart at the River Styx

January 1st Directed by: Kenji Misumi Sitting at 80 minutes and of course, being based on the famous manga, this feels more like an episode of an anime than a feature film, and it's charming in it's way. I say that not just because of those two things but also in that not much seems to happen that actually has weight. There's a few very memorable action scenes and a lot of... elsewhat. A high 6.

January 1st Directed by: David Lynch This film benefits from a slow pace and of course, being wondrously shot. A bit of stuff in this didn't exactly click with me, but I feel like the source of my disappointment comes from this not really feeling like a David Lynch film. But is that really a valid complaint? Most of this movie is really compelling and has a stunning ending. I dunno, it's good.
