December 19th Directed by: Jeremiah S. Chechik I don't know if I ever saw this entire movie, but what I did see as a kid I really hated. I hated it for being mean-spirited, unfunny and boring. I wasn't wrong. I'm surprised but I agree with my young self, this is no great film. I don't HATE it, but aside from around 3 moments it's not unique, it's not creative and it's just not funny. I guess you could call it the quintessential Christmas movie just because it has all the tropes (maybe it created the tropes, I don't know) but I think all of the love for this movie is entirely based around nostalgia.

December 19th Directed by: Chris Columbus I haven't seen this movie in at least 15 year so whatever I'll put it on this list. This is a weird movie, most people remember it for the home invasion but that's like, 15 minutes of it. Not that the pacing is bad, it's never like, boring, but a large focus of the movie is on the family trying to get back home and I don't remember any of that really. It's not exactly compelling and I don't think the scenes with the mom travelling with the polka band would be missed. This movie is a classic though and I find it hard to judge under that lens. A lot of moments are memorable due to them being burned into your brain from whatever causes that. A lot of moments are due to Macaulay Culkin's screen presence being fucking incredible. This kid was a star. Anyway, like I said, it's a classic.
