March 5th Directed by: Taika Waititi I think there's a lot of good in this movie... somewhere. The opening scene is tremendous visually, it gave me the same feeling as Mad Max Fury Road, like I was watching a heavy metal album cover. I wish we could have kept up with that. I understand this film to be a bit of a hard left, I didn't watch Thor: The Dark World because I have about 5,000 movies I'd rather watch but my point is this is a comedy. It's funny and it's also not funny, which I think is a common thing in Marvel films. I think my major sticking point is I didn't feel that there were any stakes, maybe a side effect of the comedy, I felt that Thor: Ragnarok was completely inconsequential, and when you're making a movie that's part of a big comic book film series, what is it if not important to the overall story? It's not like we're saying anything important here. Yeah, I'm just kind of left feeling "who cares". I don't know if this is any better or worse than other Marvel movies of the day. What I do know this has in common with every other Marvel movie is terrible music. Edit: I forgot to mention Hulk's voice sounded like it went through a free "voice deepener" phone app.

March 1st Directed by: Johnnie To I'm very impressed. I don't expect much out of Asian gangster films but here we have some really distinct characters that don't get muddled and a really fun to follow story. On top of that the gunfight scenes are completely wonderful. Like, top notch. I kind of want to watch this again right now. I don't know much about this Johnnie To fella, but I do know he made some Chow Yun-Fat romantic comedies in the '80s and I would actually kill people to see those. Someone please help me.
